Hollywood actor couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have been separated for seven years.

On Nov. 11 (local time), Jada Pinkett Smith, who recently released her new book, "Worthy," revealed the news in an interview with NBC's Today Show, according to Page Six and other media outlets.

In the interview, Jada revealed that she and Will Smith were already separated before the 2022 Academy Awards, when he was accused of assault. They had been separated for seven years before that.

Jada said, "It's not a divorce on paper. We're still trying to figure out what kind of relationship we want to have," she said, adding, "There are many reasons why our marriage fell apart. In 2016, we were tired of trying," she confessed.

"We were stuck in an illusion of who we were supposed to be to each other. We're still figuring each other out." "We've been through some really hard things together. We've been through some really hard things together, and we're going to figure out what that looks like for us."

The couple married in 1997 and have one son and one daughter together. They were a Hollywood favorite, but their relationship became controversial in 2020 when it was revealed that Jada had an affair with singer August Alcina, who was 21 years her junior.

At the time, Jada admitted that she had been separated from Smith since 2016 and began dating August because she thought her marriage to him was over.

Jada clarified that she never intended to divorce Smith, saying, "I promised Will that there would never be a reason to divorce. We're going to work through whatever happens."

Meanwhile, Will Smith was assaulted at the 2022 Academy Awards (Oscars) by comedian Chris Rock, who punched him in the face after he made an off-color joke about his wife Jada. Will Smith later apologized and resigned from the Academy.
