MLB requests IDs for 'Brother-in-law-sister's husband' Lee Jung-hoo and Go Woo-seok...US stage challenge in full swing

The Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) announced on Friday that it had received a request from the MLB office to check the identities of Lee Jeong-hoo and Ko Woo-seok the day before, and that the players were informed today that they belong to Kiwoom and LG, respectively. A background check request from the MLB office is the first step for an MLB club to sign a player. The two players have played at least seven regular seasons, ending this season, and are eligible to move to overseas leagues through the posting system with the consent of their clubs. Kim wins MLB Gold Glove...first Korean to do so

It's the first time a Korean player has ever won the honor. On the list of Gold Glove winners announced by the MLB Office of the Commissioner and Gold Glove organizer Rawlings on June 6, Kim was recognized in the utility category. The Gold Glove is awarded to the best defensive player at each position in the MLB for the year. While he didn't win the National League Second Baseman award, which was announced first, he did win the Utility award, which was announced last, beating out Mookie Betts (Los Angeles Dodgers) and Tony Edmon (St. Louis Cardinals). Kim played solid defense at every infield position except first base this season, including his primary position of second base, as well as third base and shortstop.
