Son Heung-min's first goal against Arsenal in the sixth round of the 2023-2024 English Premier League (EPL) has been named Tottenham's "Goal of the Month" for September, and attention will now turn to whether or not the South Korean international will win the Player of the Month award.

"Son Heung-min's first goal in the North London derby against Arsenal has been selected as the goal of September," Tottenham announced on Tuesday (local time) through the club's official channel.

Tottenham drew 2-2 with Arsenal in the North London derby on Sept. 24. Son's equalizer rescued Spurs from a 0-1 deficit before the 42nd minute. Heung-min scored with a left-footed shot that only changed the direction of the ball after Maddison's attempted pass into the penalty box.

Of the fans who participated in the poll, 45% of fans supported Son's goal. Heung-min also scored the equalizer in the second half when his team was down 1-2, saving them from defeat.

For this performance, there is a good chance that Son will win the Player of the Month award. In total, Spurs have scored 11 goals in the regular season, with Son scoring six of them.

Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent commented on Son's performance this season, saying, "He's a very intelligent soccer player. "If there's chaos in front of goal, he'll drop back a little bit to create space," he said. "If there's space in the penalty area, as we all know, he's a really good finisher. When he's in the flow, no one can stop him."

In particular, the leaked FC24 special card has increased Son's odds of winning the Player of the Month award. When a player is selected for the Player of the Month award, it is customary for them to be released as a special card in American game company EA's game FC24, and Son Heung-min's game card was recently leaked.

If Son wins the Player of the Month award, he will set a new record with a total of four awards. Only 15 players in EPL history have won four or more Player of the Month awards, including Thierry Henry, Frank Lampard, and Paul Scholes.

▲일본 기상청에 표기된 독도. 사진제공=서경덕 교수 The Japan Meteorological Agency has sparked controversy for labeling Dokdo as Japanese territory on a weather map of Typhoon No. 7. On the 16th, Seo Kyung-duk, a professor at Sungshin Women's University, sent a protest email to the Japan Meteorological Agency through social networking services (SNS), demanding that the agency correct its mistake of labeling Dokdo as Japanese land. "The Japan Meteorological Agency has always labeled Dokdo as '竹島' (Takeshima), and we have been protesting against this for three years. The biggest problem is that many Japanese netizens visit the Japan Meteorological Agency's website during typhoon and tsunami warnings, which can create a false perception of Dokdo," he said. "In this protest email, we said, 'This is a clear territorial provocation. Dokdo is an undisputed territory of the Republic of Korea under historical, geographical, and international law." Professor Seo said that not o...

After talking to his sister for about 30 minutes, Sejun said he would arrive at his hostel in about 10 minutes and hung up the phone, leaving a message saying, "Welcome home," but he hasn't been heard...

The Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) announced on Friday that it had received a request from the MLB office to check the identities of Lee Jeong-hoo and Ko Woo-seok the day before, and that the players were informed today that they belong to Kiwoom and LG, respectively. The two players have played at least seven regular seasons, ending this season, and are eligible to move to overseas leagues through the posting system with the consent of their clubs. Lee previously announced his intention to play in the major leagues after this season. His team, Kiwoom, accepted. The local media is also showing high interest in their signing.
