"I booked a month and a half in advance and even specified my seat in advance, but I was downgraded to economy because there were no first class seats available," she wrote on her Instagram on March 31. "The airline doesn't give you a refund and tells you to take the next flight if you don't like the seat," she continued.
"I even booked two seats, how can they both be downgraded," he said, adding, "It was one of those moments when I thought I should study English harder because I had a lot of things to say but I couldn't say them properly. It was a ridiculous experience, so be careful."
Irresponsible service policies by foreign airlines have been a persistent problem. As countries imposed entry restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, foreign airlines tightened their refund procedures and eliminated fee waivers. In some cases, refunds were denied due to closures.
In 2017, Delta Air Lines came under fire for overbooking and asking a family to give up their child's seat to someone else and have the child sit on their lap.
When the family, who had duly purchased their seats, refused, the flight attendant demanded that they "all get off the plane" and even threatened them with "jail time if they continue to protest." The airline was criticized after the family's story went to press.
