Police have refuted allegations that singer G-Dragon (Kwon Ji Yong), who was arrested on suspicion of drug use, shaved his entire body ahead of a police investigation.
According to police and YTN on Wednesday, an official from the Incheon National Police Agency's Metropolitan Investigation Team said, "The length of hair submitted by Mr. Kwon is long enough for a drug test, and there is no need to submit other body hair. There are no further plans to summon Mr. Kwon."
Kwon reportedly told police that he had not dyed or bleached his hair in the past year and a half and had not waxed it since being charged.
Kim Soo-hyun, a lawyer at Kwon's defense law firm, said, "Reports that he had waxed his entire body are clearly false. The court dismissed the communication warrant for lack of probable cause." "In addition to the body hair requested by the police, we are willing to voluntarily provide additional leg hair," he said, emphasizing that G-Dragon had stated during the police investigation that he had 'always waxed his hair' and had not waxed his hair at all since the reports of his arrest."
Kwon's fans have responded to this position by recalling photos of his nostrils from the past.
"G-Dragon didn't shave his entire body to destroy evidence," the author of the photo recently posted on an online community, arguing that "G-Dragon said he's been waxing for a long time, and if you look at his photos from this year and his old photos, you can see that he's been doing it consistently. The poster attached images of Kwon's July cover of Elle, in which she had shaved her armpit hair, her legs in shorts, and an image from a March 2012 broadcast of SBS's "Jung Jae Hyung Lee's You & I," in which G-Dragon appeared.
