일본 기상청, 제7호 태풍 ‘란’ 기상지도서 ‘독도’를 일본 땅으로 표기

일본 기상청이 제7호 태풍 ‘란’의 기상 지도에서 독도를 일본 땅으로 표기한 것으로 알려져 논란이 일고 있다.

16일 서경덕 성신여대 교수는 사회관계망서비스(SNS)를 통해 일본 기상청에 독도를 일본 땅으로 표기한 것을 시정하라고 요구하는 항의메일을 보냈다고 밝혔다.

서 교수는 “일본 기상청은 독도를 ‘竹島’(다케시마)로 항상 표기해 왔으며 이에 대해 3년 전부터 지속적으로 항의를 해 왔었다. 가장 큰 문제는 태풍, 쓰나미 경보시 기상청 사이트에 많은 일본 네티즌이 방문하기에 독도에 관한 잘못된 인식을 심어줄 수 있다는 것”이라고 지적했다.

이어 “이번 항의 메일에서는 ‘이는 명백한 영토도발이다. 독도는 역사적, 지리적, 국제법적으로 명백한 대한민국 영토이기 때문’이라고 지적했다”고 덧붙였다. 서 교수는 일본 기상청 뿐 아니라 일본 최대 포털인 야후재팬의 날씨 어플리케이션도 독도를 일본 땅으로 표기하고 있다고 전했다.
